Munting Hardin ng Guintong Pangarap II
100 fruiting bags of oyster mushrooms were turned over to Bahay Pangarap Women’s Center as part of the Munting Hardin ng Guintong Pangarap project last September 29, 2021. These were from the Department of Agriculture Field Office 3 under the Organic Agriculture Program, in coordination with the Municipal Agriculture Office - Guiguinto and the Rotary Club of Guiguinto Bloomingdales. Ms. Maria Luisa Sarsia, Administrative Officer and Teacher at Bahay Pangarap, also attended a virtual seminar on cultivating and processing the mushrooms.
Oyster mushrooms are a rich source of protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals and consequently are a great addition to the vegetable garden. This will improve food security and increase access for the girls to fresh and healthy food. The Rotary Club of Guiguinto Bloomingdales continues to ensure the sustainability of our organic vegetable garden project at the Bahay Pangarap by monitoring the shelter together with the Municipal Agriculture Office – Guiguinto. And this latest addition is a testament to that.
The girls of Bahay Pangarap have truly been empowered and have been harvesting okra, eggplant, water spinach, string beans, and lettuce since the project turnover last July 1, 2021.
The Rotary Club of Guiguinto Bloomingdales also provided sacks of rice and vitamin C with zinc for the girls of Bahay Pangarap. In addition, the Municipal Agriculture Office – Guiguinto gave additional assorted seeds (cherry tomatoes, winged beans, sponge gourd/patola and squash) and organic liquid supplements.
